Steam clean / power wash 05 LS430

Don't
Don't steam clean. Don't power wash. Today's cars have far too many electronics under the hood. Although they are water resistant, water with some psi or steam can permeate into these electronic housings.
Steam is probably okay for areas such as the channels on the sides of the hood area, in front - by the horns, framework in front of the horns, under the top of the hood where the stickers are, etc.
The rest is just old fashioned elbow grease, citrus based degreaser, a spray bottle of water, tooth brushes, and rags.
Much slower than steam and pressure, but safer. Keep in mind that even if steam or pressure doesn't do any damage today, it can cause the beginning of corrosion in boxes that it permeates.

Having been an engineer in the automotive industry it is okay to steam clean, the electronics under the hood can handle it. If you want to take a precaution, just let the compartment dry a bit before you turn the car on again.
