well the sensors may not get shorted but the harness definitely can... That was the issue I was having with my rear sensors where the wires were damaged likely from some animal...

is it cheaper to have a body shop do it than a dealer?

I have a sensor to go bad and I'd rather not spend in money at this time to fix or replace. So how exactly to you simply SHUT THEM OFF? I would simply rather disable park assist all together in the interim. Please advise how to turn off or shut off......

Thanks

Did you have to replace the sensors whenyou had the bumper repaired. My bumper needs replacing and they are telling my that I will have to get new sensors as well, even though they work fine?

I had the bumper cover replaced on my 2005 last month and the shop was able to remove and remount the sensors in the new cover. Have had no issues with them at all.

The shop said something about too much paint can make them not work, but I was thinking just remove them from the old bumper, paint the new one and put them in the new bumper. This may help if I decide to do it myself.

That's no doubt what they did on my 05 when the work was done. Paint match was excellent, so I believe they did pull the sensors and install them on the freshly painted bumper.

Looks like my front left sensor is going bad. Looks like the sensors are kind of cheap now but I'm guessing I would have to have it paint matched which would probably cost 5x as much as the actual sensor?

Anyone know of a place that sells OEM style already painted or even the best place to get an unpainted one?

I saw only black or silver. My car is Cypress Pearl which is not that common. Sensor didn't seem to go off much this weekend so I was hoping it was some trash or wax in the sensor but it started acting up again this morning.

Anyone know if there is a specific brand preferred over another? From the little I did research it seems as there there are specific sensors for the side of the bumper vs the front of the bumper.
