Thank you to the OP for this thread. I just updated with a 2014 disc and it literally took me 3 minutes to do it by reading this thread. Now my house address is in existence haha.

I have a 2000 Celsior from Japan, Same as 2001 LS 430.. The user interfaces on the Nav screen ,touch screen, and heater ctrls etc is all in Japanese... Would installing the DVD update fix this and be in English??

I just picked up a gorgeous Flint Mica '06 LS430 and quickly discovered it's still using an obviously dated Ver 5.XX
The newest version is easy to find on eBay but the huge disparity in prices concerns me. They range from $10 to over $100 ! Anything to be concerned about there?
I'm also concerned about loading a new version, with much more data, into a 10+ year old cars computer. Will it be too heavy for the stock processors to handle? Much like trying to install Windows 10 into a 10 year old laptop....

Congrats, bradland! May you enjoy years of trouble-free motoring. As for the DVD map update, they're all the same disc. The $10 versions are just copies of the original or a copy of a copy. It should work just fine and the processor should handle it just fine. There's no hard drive in the LS 430 so the amount of data is confined to a maximum of 8.5 GB on a dual-layer DVD disc. The system and computer(s) will easily process data much faster than can be read off the disc, so no worries there.

I recently bought a new North American DVD Map (U30D, 2015) I loaded it in but I am unable to do the NAV override. I then took it out and reloaded the old NAV DVD but still the same. No override available. Is this how this works? Is there a way to revert back to the old so I can have override? I hope so.

Oh ok thanks Gronemus....I have tried inserting the old disk back in and seeing if it would work but still nothing. I currently have the old disk inserted in there now. Is it after the download of the new disk the override at that point is non-existent? I wonder if unplugging the NAV unit and then plugging it back will clear any cache? I would much prefer having the old version and be able to override. If not I will have to use my phone(Waze) for directions.

My opinion on error message-unable to read disc
Just buy a 86841-50090 nav unit on ebay. Buy the gen 4 nav disk on ebay. It is
plug n play-you will have a better unit with better picture-the old nav units wear out
and buying a new disk will probably not work. See the post on this thread " Daspyda"
dated 9-08-16 for a list of vehicles with gen 4 units.

Take the disk out of the system and look at the surface. Are there any scratches or does it look beat up? Try sticking it into a PC that has a DVD reader in it and see if you can read any of the files on it. If you can, its likely that the disk is OK and your reader is having problems...
