Default Remote key

I need another key for my LS430. Is it possible to get it from ebay and reprogram it or do I have to order from dealer? Thanks.

Some dealers can cut lazer cut keys in house and some can not. Make sure yours can cut a key you bring in. There is a risk when purchasing a key online and taking it to be cut. Usually the uncut keys on ebay have aftermarket blanks. These are not allways the exact dementions of the Lexus key. If Lexus cuts a key they did not sell you, and it doesn't work they will not guarantee it. If you pay the big money for a key from the dealer it is guartanteed.

Its a gamble.

I am not worry about the "cut" part 'cause I know my local locksmith can do the job, the "program" part I am more concerned. I bought a key for my MB before and after cutting them, I could only open the door manually. When I start the car, it starts and shutdowns in 2 seconds and displays the word "error".

Feedbacks from the seller saying they had great luck with the keys but I want to double check with the experts - owners in this forum

Should I spend $300 from the dealer or risk losing an extra $100 ... hmmmm

I went through this same thing not long ago. Use the search function and search "Master key programming" and you should come up with what you need. In the end I just let the dealer do it all(new key and programing). They even included one of the Lexus key Fobs to replace the one my wife lost with her key. So that kind of eased the pain.

You need to be very careful of the keys on ebay to make sure you get the EXACT key for your car.

Keys are also available from the suppliers on this site.

Programing the key can be done manually or with a scan tool. As long as you have one "Master" key you can program another "master" key manually. This prossess can be found by searching online or I can somehow get it to you.

I got the key and successfully programed it. Now I need to bring it to locksmith to have the key cut.

On the GS300, I might have it in my program instruction. I will try to bring it in tomorrow and let you know.

Default How to program key GS300 1998

1998 GS300

To Program the Key:

1. Driver door open and unlocked
2. Insert the key (in ignition) and pull it out
3. Within 40 seconds, press the door power lock/unlock 5 times each (lock, unlock, lock, unlock ...)
4. Close and reopen the driver's door
5. Within 40 seconds, do the lock/unlock cycle again 5 times begin with LOCK
6. Insert the key and turn to ON (do not start your car), then turn it to OFF and remove it
7. Within 3 seconds, the power locks should automatically cycle. If this does not happen, start again from step 1
8. Within 40 seconds, on the new remote key, press lock and unlock simultaneously for one second then release. Immediately, press the lock button for two seconds then release.
9. Open and close the door to exit the program mode. If it's not working, try all steps again. Sometimes it takes few tries to work. In my case, it took 2 tries.

Good luck!

Hi All: I just bought an 05 GS300 and want to personalize the key fobs our settings.

Will the instructions above work on an 05 and will they "tie-in" the mirror, seats, etc settings.?

If not, does anyone have the self programming instructions so that the seat, mirrors, and steering wheel come to the preset positions when the car is unlocked with the key fob.

Thanks, Tom in Houston, monitoring the forum for a response.
