Lost Power Steering
Yesterday I removed as much power steering fluid from the canister as I could and replaced it with Valvoline Syn Power Power Steering fluid. I didn't start the car or drive it.
Today I went out and started the car, the power steering is dead. It sounded like the PS pump was laboring heavy duty. I stopped the engine.
Restarted, no PS, drove it down the block and back. Still nothing ????????
What the heck could have happened???????

Perhaps the rack hasn't been fully replenished? Did you only remove fluid from the reservoir? Perhaps the mixing of fluids caused some type of chemical reaction?
All i can say is that power steering fluid is the one fluid that I dared not mess with on my Hondas. They specifically warned of disastrous failure if I used anything other than Honda PS fluid. Perhaps this is the case with Lexi?
Sorry I don't have any useful info.
Good luck working it out
Mike

Yhea,
That's all I did was remove fluid from the reservoir and pour some new in with the engine off.
That shouldn't have been the cause of any problem....at least I don't think so.....

Well,
It went into the dealership this morning and came out with a new power steering pump. Apparently, by completely draining the reservoir, something dislodged and was sucked down into the pump.
The ticket says, "Replaced pump that had come apart inside".
It wasn't a mix of fluids, it was something solid.
Anyway, I am lucky. It was still under warranty.....
