Brake light warning on dash!
I have a warning light of a car with its rear light shining. I checked all the rear bulbs (brake light, rear lights, backup lights, license plate lights) and they are working. The light does not come on everytime but only when I push the brakes and open the passenger rear door.
This is very strange. I had an accident on that door and they took all my old parts out and put it on the new door. I was wondering if the sensor runs through this door. Do you guys have any idea what is wrong with my car?

I have a 93 LS400, and had the rear brake light sensor on for several years. I changed the bulbs--it didn't work. I had it checked at the dealer and they changed all of the bulbs. That helped for about 5 minutes.
I have the instrumentation problem where my tach and/or speedometer independently decide when they want to work. One day, I beat my hand on the dash to get the speedometer to work [it didn't], but the rear light indicator went out and has been OK for 4-6 months. Go figure.

I've got a '93 with 80Kmi. and my brake light dash warning indicator comes on about once every three months or so. It stays on for about 10min., then goes out.
All my lamps are fine across the rear end of the car. I guess its just a quirk.
