Shifting Problems (automatic transmission)
My 1995 LS 400 with 270,000 miles is starting to exhibit some shifting problems. It starts out driving fine. after a while, it starts to shift rough from 2nd to 3rd. My driveway is a tenth of a mile long incline. I have to stop at the top to open a gate. I put the car in PARK and engage the emergency brake. When I shift back into drive, I cannot get any forward gears. I've tried 3, 2, and 1. Fortunately, I can back into a turnaround and go back down the driveway. I can get the forward gears to engage while going down hill. As long as I hit the drive at a few miles an hour and keep going, I can make it up. Any ideas based on these symptoms? Electronic? Mechanical?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Fluid level was OK best I could tell. had the fluid replaced at a local oil change place. So far, no issues on the drive home. Made it up the driveway without a problem. We'll see.
