1996 LS400 was not starting off in first gear
Earlier today, I was driving my 1996 Lexus LS400 and decided to stop by a local coffee shop for a drink. After parking my car and while it was still running, I noticed a more convenient parking spot which I decided to move over to. After placing the vehicle in drive, I noticed that the vehicle's acceleration felt extremely heavy and abnormal as if the car was starting off in 4th gear.
At this point, I placed the vehicle back in park and shut the engine off. After restarting the engine, I placed the vehicle back in drive and the car was operating normally again. I would also like to mention that manual shifting of the transmission from 1st-4th gear resulted in trouble-free operation of the vehicle. This is the first time something like this has occurred with the vehicle.
What are some potential causes for this dilemma? Thanks!

Replacing the ECU capacitors is something that I have been wanting to do ever since I read about how common it is for them to go bad on these cars. My speedometer and tachometer also seem to work intermittently. My summer class ends in a week so I will try to have the ECU capacitors replaced during that time.
