Lets talk about Brakes
I am curious what you all would recommend for Brake pads and rotors for my recently acquired 1999 Lexus LS400 with 254k. The current brakes speak and are super mushy and it makes modulating the brake pedal a little scary. What would you recommend for a great stopping power and low dust for a decent price

The previous owner installed them just before I purchased the car and I've racked up almost 20k miles and they're still performing great.

I've got Wagner ThermoQuiet Pads on all 4 corners on my 97'. Doesn't make any noise, cold or hot, and produces good performance (for DD concerns) I hardly notice any dust on my wheels even after a 1000 miles.

For rotors, I'm still using the previous owner's Raybestos that he bought from RockAuto and installed when he did the pads. What pissed me off is he just resurfaced the rears instead of replacing and I was getting a nasty shudder when braking that I felt on my ***. Its amazing how inexpensive parts are on that website and you occasionally find closeouts that you can't believe they'd sell for that low.
Luckily I found a UCF20 at the JY that had just done a brake job and pillaged the rear rotors off those for only 16 bucks on half off day. They still had the cross hatch marks and zero rust on the hat of the rotor, so I knew it had less than 1000 miles on them.

Yeah, they're great! I installed them on my parent's Sienna and they also tow a 5x8 trailer and still peforms excellent without any fade with that much weight.

Add a good bleed of the brake fluid (probably a full fill/replace) for the mushy pedal. Sounds like you've got some air in there.
