Yeah. It would be a tight squeeze to get the timing covers off with the radiator still in there.

I second the incorrect timing of the belt. I had my 97 in for a T belt and WP change back in Nov. and immediately when I first pulled away, the car was super sluggish and lacked about 80% of the power. I took it back and the mech. had to keep it another day to redo the timing of the belt.

After he reset timing, the car drove fine, aside from him not bleeding the coolant properly and me almost overheating, so we had to add more coolant, about half a jug full. Never taking it back to him again, but I only paid 400 for labor so it was a pretty good deal.

Had a VERY similar problem with an LS many years ago. It idled just a tad rough but it LITERALLY took 2-3 minutes almost WOT to get the car to highway speed. Turned out to be the coils, they definitely can cause lack of power and otherwise seem (close to) fine.

Unrelated to timing belt, but definitely worth checking and a pretty inexpensive fix.

Thanks, good info!

I went and checked out the car and it starts and idles fine. Insanely slow though, just like the ad said. Idle sounds ok, maybe a little off, I'll let you guys tell me, I uploaded a video.

3 questions:
1. How does the idle sound?
2. What is this connector and is it only supposed to have 1 wire going to it? (pic attached)
3. What year ECU's are compatable with a 1995 LS400? I'm guess JUST the 1995 as the 1996 models are OBD2. Is that correct?

Thanks! I'm still tempted to buy it.
