Default Ecu?

I have a friend with a 93 ls400. The electronics is giving him fits. Because it a 93 he cant get cel codes.
The car was running good but developed a problem. Some one told him to remove the cats, he did. That didnt solve the problem.
He replaced the MAS for a third time. The car was running 90 miles on his 100 mile commute. Then the performance would drop substantially.
THe car would only go 20mph. He could remove the Bat cable to reset the ecu then run another 90 miles. Hes done that for months but now it will not work .
Disconecting the bat will not help. Also the car stammers some. I think the ECU is bad. Ive never seen under the hood. I will get a detailed report from him.
He isn't puter savy so I'm doing tjhis fo him.
THanks
Z

The codes are simpler to get sorta. Because you don't need a fancy tool to do it.

I suspect its the bad ECU capacitors causing this. Also get the CEL codes by jumping Te1 and E1.
