Default 1994 LS400: Rack & Pinion replacement :'(

Okay I took my car to Midas today and they told me that my rack and pinion needs replaced. My steering has become very tight and sluggish in the past couple weeks and I could tell that something was wrong. My mechanic offered to put a aftermarket(REMAN,$250) rack and pinion on my car for $150 labor. Has anyone done this job by themselves? It seems a bit complicated to me....... thanks in advance

Or the electric control valve is not working? That seems like a reasonable price.

pricing seems reasonable but i'd want to know who rebuilt the rack.

You will need an alignment after the replacement.

Do you have any suggestions on a aftermarket rack?

Just toe alignment, easy to adjust.

any big box rebuilder should be fine, I have a local rebuilder that does nothing but steering racks and CV joints that takes care of these things.
