Default 96 shifting problem

Hey guys! I'm kind of stumped on this one ...I've checked for broken trunk wires ..read all I could online..figured asking you guys might be the best

96 ls400 260k miles

Issue
Car starts right up and runs perfect..shifts perfect through all gears...once I come to a stop and try to take off the transmission starts slipping and The car won't move (also feels like traction control randomly kicks on)...I can shut the car off very briefly and take back off again...(until I stop)

Fluid level is good.(not burnt)

Only check engine light is P0325(knock sensor)

I've searched and only thing I got was to search for broken trunk wires...and knock sensor will cause it not to go into OD

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Need Yamae to explain what on a 96 can cause this. It sounds like something electrical since the transmission doesn't constantly slip.

It could be old capacitors in the ECU that leaked and dried out. See this thread for more information.

Good you got it going, but what you described was more than a strainer problem, if it was just a plugged strainer deal it would be slipping all the time and flipping the key on and off wouldn't affect it at all. Maybe clean fluid cleaned up a solenoid or valve.

Yeah once I started flushing the fluid it started coming out looking like used oil...drove it around some more this morning after sitting all night and it's still going strong...I just bought the car last week with this problem..thought it was gonna be the trunk wire problem..$750 bucks well spent!!
