Cluster Change 90 to 93-94
I was wondering if it is possible to change the cluster of the pre facelift ones that have the analog odometers to the ones which have the digital odometer. I have a right hand drive celsior and wanted to change from this:

The analog is a motor controlled deal. And not sure if it can be changed as there maybe other electronics updates on the newer ones that are not interchangeable. Someone here may know for sure.

The thing with the early cluster - is that odometer. Its only semi-mech. It has all electrics behind it that tell the wheels to spin. Complete waste of engineering if you ask me. The harness will be totally different. So unless you wanna splice wires and connectors - you wont have much luck.

I don't want to cut the wiring harness. So i'll just find one analog odo cluster from a RHD model which goes to 260kph. Will the speedometer also need changing as mine only goes to 180kph

There are 4 wiring juction plugs for the 93/94 cluster - the odometer and everything are all built into the main body - and there is one wiring harness connector at the very top for the check engine lights and stuff, then there is a white harness, blue harness, and orange harness that all plug side by side in the middle - so you would be wiring up a lot of stuff if you tried to change it out.

The current cluster has problems. The speedometer, trip and odometer are reading 4-5 times less than the actual speed. Like if the car is going 100 km/h the speedo will read 20 km/h. The trip meter when travelled 15-20 km will show that the car has travelled 3-4 km while the odometer shows the car has travelled 1km.
Also the tachometer sits below zero when the car is off. When I turn the key to ignition the needle rises a bit and when I start the car it shows 600 rpm. The needles are not stuck and tapping on the top of the cluster does nothing. The car is a 1990 Celsior which has done 168000 km (105000 miles).

i think the main problem of his is the location where he lives at. Pakistan got same problem as most 3rd world countries like Lithuania any and many more. We don't have much of these car around. Scrapyards are also afraid of such cars to scrap. Because there is no profit when there is max to 10 of these car in whole country (at least in Lithuania there is from 5 to 10 of 95-98 models. and max 10 of 90+) He could try to send his cluster bus he would be without the car for 2 weeks or more and postage would rob him for 60 $ or even more to one side..
