Default Brakeline

Anyone has experience with stainless steel braided brakeline ? It's listed at TireRack for $120 for 91 LS. It's supposed to give better braking feel and shorter distance.

Any SS braided brake lines are usually improvements over the rubber stock ones. I have those on both Talons and I'm waiting for a set from Goodridge for the LS400. I can say good things about them on the Talons but I have no experience on the LS400, but my prediction says that it's going to improve the brake feel on the LS400 as well.

Default In practical...

SS brake lines reduce/get rid of brake hoses expansion under pressure. They are reasonnable cheap improvements so they are a "go" in my book if you run out of other ideas to improve your car. I installed Goodridge SS lines on my Acura and here is what I saw:
1. They make you feel GOOD and CONFIDENT having SS brake lines
2. They DON'T stop your car any shorter - (The contact braking surfaces make you stop shorter)
3. Depending on the lenghts of your OEM lines, you may/may not be able to see any better brake feel but more often, you will not. The reason is that you will have to slam on the brake really-really-really hard to build up extreme high pressure before you can see any benefit. Also they help if you have long lines. On some cars, the lines are long and snake around the front struts quite a bit before they reach the pistons.
4. If you want better brake feel and stopping distance, change the brake fluid regularly (they get water contaminated) and see if you can install bigger rotors. Cheers.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Tuan.
I tend to agree with you.
