How to removed instrument cluster removal 1999 ls400
Hello, anyone knows how or can point me to how to remove the instrument cluster on a 1999 ls400 to fix the sticking speedometer. I need to access it to clean up the lubricant causing my speedometer to become sticky in hot weather. I did a search and most instruction are for the 90-94 model and nothing for 98-00 model. Thank you in advance

you probably don't have to go as far as that says to, actually i'm pretty sure you definitely don't... lexls has a tutorial for the 1st generation LS that probably applies to the 99

aptoslexus that is crazy and it is NOT how to remove the cluster
NOTE: these manuals assume you have the necessary ability to do the work, and are NOT training manuals.
two screws at the bottom and two clips at the top and remove to reach the wiring connectors, and common sense should take over then...
If you look VERY carefully at the leather edge of the dashboard (top of the cluster), you will find two small openings where you can insert a flat screw driver to free the cluster away.
anesthesia Im assuming you have done everything else from removing the steering wheel cover to all the other visible bolts. IF NOT do it

More importantly there is NO "lubricant". This has been refuted several times on the board. You will damage your cluster..
We have received countless broken clusters to repair after people quoted this mysterious lubricant that they tried to remove.

Thank you Tanin for your input, how much do you charge to fix this issue? The speedometer works great in cold weather but once hot weather I would have to hit the dash for it to move it does not happen all the time. Please let me know your charge to fix this issues? Thank you

If you drive without cluster installed then airbag light will be on, but lexls has a tutorial on turning it off and it's easy. Not sure about your specific year but I had no problems with my 1st gen.
