If it runs and the suspension don't make noise and no handling problems, then no mods needed any place.
Best suspension mod would be urethane bushings at all pivot points I guess it degrades the ride some though, but they will far out last the stock rubber stuff.

Welcome to Club Lexus.

If yours is like most, you'll have some basic fixes to do first before any mods come. Engine mods are not readiliy available. A far as suspension, there are some past good threads to go through. Post up a pic of your LS.

FORGET WHAT DICER JUST POSTED.. (Dicer go wash your mind out)

do NOT now or ever use urethane bushings on the front end of a Lexus LS400.....
if you do you will have a ford.. urethane bushings destroy the LS ride.. I used some on my SRB's and had to remove them the first week.... you can use them on the rear, it dosen't affect the ride like the front...

and IF you are riding on urethane bushings, I feel sorry for you... Always OEM on the front..
polys on left, OEM on right look at the difference !!

Why not "mod" a Ford pickup? They don't make the LS400 anymore.Save the few left for future generations to enjoy!!!

Yeah I have to agree here to be fair. It is such a great car and getting harder and harder to find so I say keep it original and enjoy it the way the 1 billion dollars worth of Lexus engineering intended it to be.

A simple bushing mod can always be reversed. I agree with using the stock stuff. But even though the ride may degrade some since the harder bushings will last longer and hold the alignment longer thus increasing tire life, why not for an everyday driver?

And yeah I just can't figure out the mind set wanting to RUIN the good vehicles. And having to cut, bend etc on the body some place. There are many of the already messed up ones for sale, if you have to mess one up then buy one that already is messed up. Sell the good one to someone that likes it that way and use the money to further mess the messed one up even more.

the only engine "mod" i'd do would be the jbrady intake because it sounds DAMN good especially above 4000 rpm and doesn't actually really make any changes apart from letting some more noise out, it doesn't bypass the filter or anything. if you care about ride i wouldn't touch the suspension, the clever japanese folk who designed it gave it a wonderfully smooth ride that will only be made worse by changing things. i'm quite vain and OCDish so i got some H&R springs because the wheel gap with the 18's was annoying me and it's the smallest amount of drop you can get without adjustable ride height. i'd listen to billy, he's owned like 400 LS400's

depends on your goals. a nice comfortable stock daily, that is reliable? or a slammed VIP drift rod where style is most important?

always do basic maintenance first, like timing belt, water pump, fluids, transmission mounts and strut rod bushing...all of which are most commonly replaced items around this day and age.

Sell it and buy something else if you're looking to "mod" it.

Otherwise, drive it and enjoy the way it was made from the factory.
