I think you mean P0500?

We need way more information than what you've provided before we can help, starting with the year of your chevy camaro.

And fluid level is fine? Does it go into gear when in forward D, L, 2.3 etc? A parking brake will hold better forward than in reverse.
Does it coast okay? Simple things first.

Worse case is the forward clutch is not working.

dicer, just got off from work today added some fluid to get it to the right level. The car goes into R,D,2,3, but when you put in L it acts like it's in neutral. To get it back in drive u have yo shift up to neutral then go to drive. I drove it around my block and it shift fine until you are at a stop then it goes into that neutral mode again then you have to do like above shift back to neutral gear then drive to get going again. I reset to code I'm going to drive it awhile to see if the code p0500 come back If so I'm going to change out the vss 'a'. What's your advise.

Vss would not stop it from going into gear, and you say it upshifts good. Sounds more like a shift linkage problem, unless they are all electric then a switch problem.

A good thing to do would have been to just drain the pan and remove it and change the filter screen, clean the pan and then add the fluid. While pan is off check shift linkage action if possible.
