Whats the word On Windshields?
I am tired of looking at my sand pitted windshield especially at certain times when the sunhits it just right.
Its my understanding that the Lexus has a "soft window" for lack of a better term.
Most Junkyard windows have issues and since this is not an insurance claim what are people happy with when it comes to replacing their windshields?
I have read some threads but can't seem to find a definitive answer?

I think I paid $220 for Safelite to replace mine a couple years ago, as I too was tired of looking through pits, a chip and a big scratch from my wipers. PGW glass went in place of the old, but it was the fact that it had the grey strip at the top that made it more expensive than an all clear one.
The installer broke all of the tabs that hold the piece of rubber in place at the bottom of the windshield under the hood, so that piece just sits there now, but other than the NEW chip I got about a month ago, it's been great.

I have a PGW Windshield in my GX470 that was put in shortly after I bought it... it seems pretty nice as far as windshields are concerned, and it works with the wiper sensor too... I wouldn't hesitate to put one in my LS once the time comes.

There are different grades so generically speaking, you get what you pay for. Before they install the glass, look through it to get an idea before it is all glued up. You'd hate to sit down look at it and think that maybe spending $50 more might have been a better idea.

IF you can, try and check the work before the installer leaves too. Sometimes it's not so much the quality of the glass, but the install as well.
My GX470 windshield that I was speaking of had to be done twice because the guy who did the first one totally biffed it.
I brought it back to the shop and after the manager looked at it for 3 seconds, He apologized and scheduled another job free of charge. the second go around came out flawless.
