Default New Toyota Oil Cahnge Interval - 10K miles

I have 2013 Camy. I brought the car in for 5K miles checkup and they would not change the oil. Then I've lean that starting 2013, Toyota is recommending the oil changes at every 10K miles. This is due to the fact that they have started to use synthetic oils on new Toyota cars. But every 10K???? Wow. This is going to have Jiffy Lube guys out of business. Going from 3K intervals to 10K interval.

If this is the case, I can do the same with the older Lexus? You pay more for the synthetic oils but every once a year oils change, I can live with.

3k intervals has more to do with marketing than necessity. It has been a long time since a 3k interval was supported in an owner's manual. A cheap oil analysis I believe would support this.

10K interval is fine on both cars as long as you are using a top tier FULL synthetic (i.e. Pennzoil Platinum, Pennzoil Ultra, Mobil 1, etc.) just make sure you are using a great filter as well - here is a list of the best

on the Camry, I would actually use Toyota's new 0W-20 oil, no matter where you live, it is stellar! (made by Mobil to a new standard of quality that beats all)

unfortunately, you can't use that oil in an LS400, but make sure to use a high quality top tier 5W-30 or 0W-30 only
