Resetting Airbag Light
Hey Gang,
Got this information from www.mkiv.com My air bag light is on and i am trying to reset it. This is the procedure.
1. Find the OBDI connector (its in the center of the engine bay next to the intake)
2. Find AB & TC Pin.
3. Using a wire connect to the battery (Negative)
4. Alternating TC, AB, TC, AB and TC with the wire at about one second interval.
Have anyone try this method? It would be very interesting to find out.

airbag reset
Sorry that I can't help Lextreme. I copied the post that I had found using the search function here last weekend but I am now on a remote notebook. I did my search under airbag reset & looked thru the info. When I get back off the road I would be glad to help!

BTW: Among the more pertinent details I read was that the airbags will not physically deploy if the warning light is on. I have no way to verify this , but it is food for thought. This info scared me into prompt action.

Found it! Info lifted from VQT's post:
To clear the code connect two wires to Tc and AB of the DLC2 (OBDI port). Turn the ignition to ACC or ON and wait ~6 sec. Start with Tc terminal, apply to body ground alternately to Tc and AB twice each in cycles of 1.0 +- 0.5 sec. Finally keep Tc to ground, if the clearing is done properly the AirBag light will blink in a 50msec (continously). If if did not, repeat the procedure (you didn't ground the Tc and AB properly.
Good luck!

The lexls tutorial page has very clear instructions on this. I used that once after I needed to remove the instrument panel, and amazingly it worked on the very first try. Some of the stuff above is incomplete or incorrect, at least for my '91.
