Question Bizarre dashboard light problem 1990 LS400

Recently, EVERY dashboard light on my wife's 1990 LS400 came on and stayed on while the vehicle was running. So far, this has not hindered the vehicle's performance but I wonder if this problem might be linked to a failing alternator. (Turning on headlights has not caused a problem in the short term.)

I am afraid to let her drive it beyond short distances until we figure out what's wrong.

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks!

you can quickly check the alternator with a voltmeter across the battery - get us the voltage with car off, car at idle and car at 2500 rpm in park and post the 3 voltages you get

sometimes the main power feed connector to the dash cluster becomes loose, I would unplug and replug that, make sure to squeeze the tab when disconnecting

also sometimes the dash cluster circuit board electrolytic capacitors fail

Thanks a lot. I'd say the trunk wires are the likely suspect here.
