Default Bad Luck! Power Steering

Just had my 96 Ls400 towed to the shop for starter and egr pipe R/R. After I rolled it out of the garage I notice a puddle of atf on the floor leaking from the steering pump area. The car has not run in a week and has never (to my knowledge) had a leaking power steering before, but now it leaves a puddle on the floor

I guess it could have blown a hose just prior to the last time it was shut off and I never noticed, but that seems unlikely. Can the idle control valve go bad and leak even with the car off? There is no noticable smoke on startup. The puddle was big enough to create about a six inch oil slick.

I have read the power steering bible. so I know what areas to check.

so there was no leak prior to the car's current no start issue or you just don't ever remember noticing it?

have you been poking around in that area at all and may have disturbed something or left the cap off or anything?

If there was a leak, it was small. I always look for drips on the floor. I wouldn't notice low fluid because I have been pumping out the resevoir and refilling it. Actually, I did just that just before thanksgiving.

There is a possibility I spilled some during that procudure. I use one of those plastic pumps that is supposed to screw onto a bottle so it can be messy. Since this car is my wifes d/d,the spill could have been there without me ever noticing it.

I guess I will wait for it to return and see what it does. The spill did look like it had been on the floor a while. I hope thats it!
