Default Real wood

Is our interior trim real wood? Id like to strip it down and re-stain it in a dark gray or black. My car's a 97

i think it's wood laminated onto plastic i don't think you can strip it down and restain it

Ive taken a few trim pieces off, and I really doubt you could restain it.
That laquer or plastic thats on it does not come off.

And Im not sure if its real wood, but I really doubt lexus would cheap out with these cars and go faux.

Its real wood alright but thin strips with so much lacquer. Would be near impossible to refinish to different color. I take my center shifter piece out and run a polish and wax over it to keep it protected and shiny.

if you want to change the color you should look at the process of water transfer printing.

Ive seen that done on motorcycle parts(American Chopper) do you know what that runs, ballpark?

It is real wood indeed and if you really want to re-stain the wood, it can be done. A guy did his RX300 here although I believe he was quite handy with woodworking.
