Good buy or what???
Well im in the market for a ls400 and I came across a 98 LS400 with 105,000 miles on it. I can get it for 4000 but it does need some cosmetic work. Did a vin check and it came out good nothing fishey, but its from a dealer and thats what scares me. My question is even if I go ahead and grab it and fix it up do you think that it would be worth it in the long run????Oh and im pretty sure it has the power steering issue. And its been in an accident says the carfax.

I would suggest you look around a little more I live in west delray and did a fast craigslist search for south Florida and 82 LS 400 came up. Unless your in a hurry to buy i would wait for the right car to show up and this is one of the best spots in the country to find them.
I just browsed for a few min and found this ad

im sure you can find something better than what you have already looked at

I know but its a 98 with the 290hp engine with 105,000 miles on it. I dont know if im missing something but wouldnt the 98 be a better choice over the older models?? But i guess its just preference.

If it's from an independent dealer, not a new car dealer who took it in trade, then its an auction car and I'd pass. Then there is the wreck; another reason to pass. Unless you can do body work, cosmetic damage can be expensive to repair; another reason to pass.

The car was actually a trade in. As far as the timeing belt im not sure. Is there a way to findout about by the vin? Oh and when I say cosmtic I mean has its dings here and there. The car is all put together only thing I see is that the hood isnt exactly aligned properly.

I agree with some of the comments above...hold on and find a private owner who took real good care of it and can show you some records....or ull end up spending over $7,000 just on maintenance and other stuff.
