Default 99 ls

Hijacking this one:

What are your thought of a 1999 LS400 with 280,000 miles for $4,988?
Lots of miles.
I haven't seen the car in person since it is an hour of drive away from me at a small dealer.
I don't believe it has NAV or Air suspension since it is not disclosed.

I'd buy it if it was well-maintained.

FWIW... Just bought a '98 one owner LS400 with 109,899 on the clock. Interior clean as a whistle, exterior has nicks and stuff but not at all bad. No air suspension (wouldn't have bought it if it did) and no nav (I'd rather have nav then not have nav but who cares), sunroof, heated seats (but I'm in MyJami), standard radio, Wood steering wheel (stress cracks in varnish - who cares) and wood shifter, HID headlights. Bought from Lexus dealer for 7249.00. Maintenance history mostly all from same dealer and well taken care of. However I couldn't verify it had been done and inspection revealed a need for timing belt. So I did a very complete timing belt service (seals water pump everything), valve cover gasket re-seal, spark plugs, and re-sealed the auto tranny pan (slight leak) with filter etc. for another 1800.

I think it a reasonable price so don't burst my bubble! The car is a dream and I'm comfortable knowing ALL service is up to date and has no other issues. What a ride! The LS is supposed to be for my wife but she may get more and more use of my '06 Infiniti M35... the '98 LS is far superior.

Has brand new tires and has always been garaged. When I test drove it I could not believe the ride and was in total awe! She is asking $8500, suggested retail I believe is around $11000, Please some one chime in and let me know if this is a good deal or not. Thank you in advance.

Hi Mike and welcome. I know (luckily) I will get much welcome feedback on my response, which is how I learn but, I bought a '97 LS400 w/ 1 owner, all records, garage kept ect. for $6k when they were asking $8.5k w/200k miles on it. Only thing I've had to do in the 1 year since I got it was the ball joints, timing belt kit and valve cover jobs. Well worth it since it will go 300k +. Well worth it. I've had Volvos, Saabs, Jags, Porshes, BMWs, Bentlys,Mercedes, Mitsubishes, still have an Acura and now LS400 and I can say not only am I a car freak but, I've driven alot of cool rides and I would put the LS up there. Get it but, see if you could work a little better deal but gently. I know it's different from a '98 but, and I'm asking everyone how much. Thanks to all and Mike you're asking alot of wonderful people. Peace.
