intro
hey there, my name is Ian and I work for Napa in VT. I just recently purchased a 91 ls400 for a steal of $50. after review of the car I had to install a radiator ($115) a belt tensioner ($38) serp belt ($12) and 1 upstream O2 sensor ($65). on top of all that this car has 196000 miles on it and as far as I can tell everything works minus the lcd on the climate control has the black out issue, the front y-pipe is rotten, and the sunroof leaks. and for the good I am getting insane millage with this on the highway all things considered I am guessing around a 20 gallon tank as that is the most I have ever had to put in it and I am getting anywhere between 450 to 600 miles on a tank depending on how I drive it.
will get some picks up shortly

$50????? Wow what a steal! I have been casually browsing here and have noticed quite a few threads of LS4 revivals. Hope you can bring the car back up to its previous glory without too much of a headache or $$. Sounds like a fun project! Pics?

I also put a battery in it but I didn't buy that came out of another car I blew the engine on. but if anyone needs to change their tensioner I got one for a 98 ls400 and the difference was about $150 for some reason as I ordered both in and had them sitting next to each other and I couldn't tell any difference beween them

well so far I have put almost 10k miles on it since I bought it and the only brake down I had 2 brake downs, 1 when the belt tensioner went on the first day but I was still able to get home, and the second was when I ran out of coolant and over heated hence the new radiator.

Throw some pics up! Excited to see what it looks like. They make great commuter cars...however the most mileage I've been able to extract, and this is going SLOW (65mph) with no A/C on has given me no more than 430 miles. But It's still impressive for such a comfortable cruiser. Enjoy

just did a major tune on the old lady last night, acomplished in 2 hours and 2 minutes with no issues what so ever, and now she runs better than ever. The plugs that I pulle dout were burnt down and had almost no tip left on them and were cheap no name brand and the rotors caps had some singing and burning from being old, but I didn't replace the wires cause they were OE but looked new or recent.
After all it made a huge difference, getting on the highway this morning I mashed and she broke loose and I was able to drift up the on ramp this morning.
