More cush for the tush
At 170,000 miles and 19 years of use the drivers seat cushion is feeling a little flat. Has anyone ever pulled the cover and added new foam and if so how well did it work/last?
I was thinking I would add a piece of 1" high density foam between the cover and the springs to help soften things up.

I have taken the seat covers off before and what you are proposing would be very easily accomplished. You could even go to a shop that sells foam products for furniture. If you took in your seat bottom they could sell you the same foam density as OEM or anything firmer or softer that you chose. There is actually an entire science behind what type of foam is placed where, durability, comfort, etc. If you wanted more head room you could choose a denser foam that provides the same support at a reduced thickness. This would lower your overall seat height and give your head more clearance. Just a thought.......

Good question!!! My 1991 driver's seat is also feeling a little flat and I was thinking of doing the same thing. If you go ahead and do it yourself, take pictures and post them. I'd be interested in hearing how it went, what problems you encountered, and any tips you have.

My seats also suck. Driving longer than 1hr is horrible. I'd be interested in this as well, but would be leaning towards more comfort actually super comfort. Going off topic would it be smarter to invest in this idea? Or swap the seat for a newer model ls400/430 seat?
I have a 1990 by the way.
