Default '90 LS400 Engine shut-off

Hi all,

My car is doing very strange thing, here is the problem

- The RPM drop very low
- Sometime the Engine just shut off
- Some time just like riding the horse when it doing this the check engine and the TRAC OFF light turn on
- Smell very bad like it not burn all the gas
- The muffler is build up with black stuff very bad
- It run fine sometime and just shut off the engine when stop at the traffic light.
- The AC is not cold anymore

I never work on car before but have to do it now. Do you think that because the bad spark plug and wire? Like 2 or more engine died.

The car have 200K on it and I check the air filter an it is clean.

Please point me to the right direction to repair this problem.

Appreciate for your help.

Thank you

check the mas sensor it's on the air intake tube just behind the air filter try and clean it with MAS cleaner you can buy it at most auto stores take out the top screws and it comes out be careful handle it with care. Spray on the MAS cleaner and let it dry and try that if that doesn't work possibly you idle position sensor is bad if so, it's expensive my IPS is starting to act up also I am trying to locate one after market they cost around $700-800.00 at the dealer
