Lost my 95 Ls400's keys... what do I do?
I lost the key to the 1995 LS400 I just bought. Me and the girlfriend got a little drunk, I ended up having to play babysitter and carry her inside and somewhere along the way I've lost my keys and have not been able to find them. Aside from ordering a new key at the Lexus dealership (which I'm sure costs an arm and a leg). Is there any other cheaper alternatives to getting a new key? I live in Southern California... if anyone knows any shops around here?
Thanks in advance,
Sean

You can buy a key from ebay, I think, but ultimately, I think you will need to take it to a Lexus dealership and/or specialist in order to have it programmed. Best of luck!

keys from the dealer shouldnt cost more than $40 since the 95-96 keys dont have immobilizers. maybe another 10-20 for your dealer to cut it according to your cars VIN (make sure to take a copy of the registration showing your name since they'll ask for it and ur driver's license as an id)
as for the remote...its not going to be cheap.

I just got a master key (for 96) cut at Keyes Lexus for $60 or 65 with commercial account (discount). I think Glendale Lexus is the same price w/o needing a commercial account. Was $100+ at Jim Falk and at Santa Monica Lexus. As PureDrifter said, bring your proof of ownership, drivers license and VIN.

I recommend the dealer. I broke my first key and lost it, and the second one my girlfriend "thought" she locked it in the trunk. So I had a friend from AAA come try to get in, to no avail! A locksmith doesn't have the tools to open a 93 Lexus LS400 door!
Anyway, I called Lexus for a new key after every key cutting place explained they couldn't cut it. I was quoted $50 out the door, but I showed up and the guy who cut it sold it to me for just $35. I was quoted by only one person who claimed they could cut it, $200... HA, go to the dealer, it's not that bad. The new key looks much better than the old one too.

Got a key from the dealer myself.
I needed another key for the 95 Lexus LS 400 in 2008 so I got one from Sewell Lexus. Price was not bad; had to fax proof of ownership, and key was mailed to my home address.
