Default Suspension Questions

With my income tax return I was planning on replacing my worn out struts, strut bushings, etc. According to JimsGX, the Arnotts kit is the way to go if you want the OEM ride, feel and height.

My question is, since I plan on one day lowering the car and putting rims on it, should I go ahead and lower it now? If so, how much will that cost? The Arnotts kit is $648 shipped I believe, and includes everything I need to replace.

I've never lowered a vehicle before and have no idea what I will need. Also, will I have to put different rims/tires on my car at the same time (205 65 15) or are the coilovers adjustable?

I need some learnin - halp! I have roughly $1,200 to play with. Thanks!

Megan coilovers can be had for $825 shipped +/-. Damned good ride quality IMHO. At full height it lowers the car about an 1". And it goes down from there. No need for new wheels/tires immediately. You won't get any rubbing at full height with stockers.
Strut Rod bushings are about $100 shipped (http://www.mybushings.com/lexus-ls-4...hing-p-89.html).
Do some reading on this forum and you'll find pretty much everything you'll need to know.

Will the Megans hit the full range I'll might need for lowering in the future? How low (from stock) do they go down to?

Found these in the vendor marketplace. Any idea how low these will go? Will I need lowering springs?

While I don't own Megans I understand they slam the car pretty low - maybe 3". Without different wheels/tires they'd rub pretty bad IMO.

You do understand that Megans will give you big performance upgrade over OEM right?

I have H&R lowering springs with Bilstein HD and the difference from OEM was nuts Now the car drives like it should - tight

Toxictv,

The strut rod bushings quoted above are for a 95LS on up. They won't fit your 91LS... There are some aftermarket poly's out there for your 91, otherwise the OEM's will run you well over $100 each online.

Sorry toxic, I didn't realize you had a '91.
Like Steveski said they go down pretty low. I don't know why they'd rub with your current stock wheels/tires. They didn't rub on my 245 front and 275 rears when i had my 20's at full height.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll find some bushings and order them when I order the Megans.

I'm assuming most everyone on this forum that's bought Megan's has bought the Street LP's? I just want to make sure I'm buying the right ones before making a purchase. =)

Do it but make sure you get the updated lower mounting brackets, there are some issues with the older models.

My advice. Save the $1200. Buy a CD and wait this depression out.
