As for the stiff power steering have you checked the fluid reservoirs level lately?

First of all, let us know which LS model, year, mileage.
Now, there are two different oil lights in out cars. If my memory serves me right, there's a yellow oil light that indicates low oil level, and then there is a red oil light, which indicates a problem with oil pressure. I don't remember exactly which color is what, so this might be vice versa. You should be able to find this info in your manual.
If this is the oil level light, then check the level of your oil. If the level is fine, it might be you oil sensor.
If its oil pressure, then it could be your oil pump failing or your engine might be badly sludged.
Is your power steering pump functioning as it supposed to? Did you check power steering fluid level? Is your accessory belt skipping? If everything checks out, chances are whoever installed your rack used a low quality after-market part that doesn't work as it should.

its a '93 with almost 165,000
i have routine oil changes so im thinking its the oil sensor as well, just wanted a second opinion.
as for the power steering, fluid is fine, possibly solenoids but as i recall i believe they were cleaned w/ install of new steering rack and pump. had the work done by a trusted mechanic who we have used for over 10 years, however i do know everyone makes mistakes n it could have been installed improperly, no idea. thanks for the help though

Oil change indicator light?
I haven't owned my '99 LS400 for very long and I recently took it to the local Lexus dealership for it's first oil change. I noticed they didn't put a little sticker in the upper-lefthand corner of the windshield which tells me the odometer reading to bring it back in for the next oil change.
So, should I just rely on the car to "tell" me when to change the oil?
