Transmission: Drain or Flush?
#31
Just wanted to add my 2 cents to this thread. A few years ago, I had brought my LS400 in to have a tranny flush, thinking it would be a good idea to keep it clean and in good working order. Well, less than 2,000 miles after getting it flushed, the transmission failed and costs me almost $2,000 to get it rebuilt. Do yourself a favor and just do regular drain and fills. I will never ever do a flush on a car again after what I experienced.

Both transmission and engine mounts were fine.
Changing the transmission fluid seems to have improved shifting noticeably.
I've also changed what I do when I park it for the night (goes into neutral, set the emergency brake, let the emergency brake hold the tension, then it goes into park).
Big difference when shifting into gear the next morning.

I had mine flushed with the BG flush machine using the BG cleaner. I took 16 quarts of toyota t4 fluid and they put that back in it. I could tell a big difference in how it shifted. I can barely feel it shift now. It shifted very smooth before, but it made a big difference. The biggest noticeable difference is that the shift **** has absolutely no vibration in it anymore. I used to feel some vibration when driving down the road, but thehe vibration would stop if I put the car in neutral and coast. Now there is no vibration at all. Not sure why this is, but it is..
