remove 2000 LS400 highmount taillamp cover?
My tail lamp is out. I'm trying to remove the cover - but it won't come
off easily. I've pinched the sides, front, etc. - but I still think there's something holding it on and it I force it - it will break. Is there some trick to get this thing off? I have an 2000 LS400. Thanks so much for the help!

As I recall on my 95 there are two plastic wedges on the sides (it has been a while) that must be cleared B4 it will slide back toward the front. They point down into the rear deck. I used a putty knife or a large flat screw driver to find them.

Kansas - You're a champ. Its an 00 LS that I'm trying to get the cover off. For the tabs in your picture, how do I clear them so it slides out? Is it from the sides? Thanks for your response...

Pry up the front edge of the housing up with a regular screwdriver -- it takes a moderate amount of upward force. I just now went out to the garage and did it on my car. You have to raise the front edge of the housing high enough for the three red plastic prongs on each side to clear the parcel tray. Use the little flashlight in your tool kit to see what you are doing.
Be careful to not break the those little red plastic prongs on each side behind the front edge of the housing -- they are what keep the housing located and from sliding forward.
