i read the article. Looks very interesting. I took out my ECU IG fuse and the heavy steering was very nice. The car felt like a heavy bank vault compared to a floaty boat. I need to figure a way to just disable the PS ECU. Any thoughts guys?

ECU IG fuse disables too much (abs, sunroof, windows)

*update*i disconnected the gear solenoid and now and the power steering is very nice and heavy. Am i putting too much pressure on my power steering system now?

One member in the 2GS forum did something similar to this. A resistor was placed on a connector near the power steering pump. SImple mod, however not nearly worth it for me right now. My steering isn't as light as the LS400s

how about unplugging the speed sensor signal connection to PPS ECU instead of removing the fuse?

omarg, could you please instruct me how to reach the PPS ECU under steering wheel

remember, this won't at all increase the RATIO on the rack (xxx turns lock to lock), only make the steering FEEL heavier.

the ratio can only be increased by replacing mechanical elements.

Did this on my old LS400 and it worked but not as good as I hoped. The steering just become to hard when driving at low speeds.

Now autospeed has an newer article on how to increase the steering weight which seems to fix the problems with the last solution, http://www.autospeed.com/cms/article.html?&A=2473
I just bought me a 2000 LS400 and I'm planning on doing the new revised solution but want to see if anybody has tried this? Can't really figure out how everything is wired.

get your wheel/tire/suspension setup sorted out first, the steering stiffens up a fair bit once the front susp. geometry is changed.

I'm not planning on modifying the suspension, the car has airsuspension (standard in Sweden) and I love the ride. I'm probably going to change the tires. Now I have Pirelli Cinturato P7 225/60R16 97 V on the car. Planning on changing to something with 225/55R17.

the 2IS have weights inside their steering wheels, regular 2IS guys swap in the IS-F weight for a heavier steering feel. wonder if this is applicable for the LS.

iirc that's done more so for better on center feel because the stock IS feels a little floaty/has poor on center feel.

the LS steering is just overboosted.
