Default Another Supercharged LS400

My friend Shawn from Temecula California recently finished this supercharged LS400. He is using Procharger P1SC. This unit oil system is completely self contained so no inlet or outlet required. Very simple system. He is still trying to tune this car right but its is boosting around 5-6 psi with stock fuel system. This intercooled system with a charger capable of 20 psi with stock LS400 Crank pulley.

Hi all new member here at club Lexus but I thought I'd come by and give some more details about this one off setup(not for long we hope!). The car in these pics is my 91" LS and it was built in conjunction with Lextreme.com The setup is
based directly off of the "fish" bracket setup for Vortech centrifugal type.

-Its my daily driver so Im in the process of tune as I speak. This bracket is setup for the larger, more efficient ATI procharger p1sc. These head units in combination w/ a max of 2.50'' pulleys on the LS400 platforms yield over 20psi potential. I have this setup for 6psi... 5 after intercooler piping. Car pulls very hard from 2500-6000. I would estimate 250rwhp... 300rwhp would be around 9psi. Its been concluded that the stock fuel systems on LS can take up to 9psi w/ rising rate FMU. This is a very simple kit to assemble and was done by myself over the course of my semester her where I go to school.

Lots of thanks goes out to David Phan over at Lextreme.com for his custom "Fish" bracket design. W/o this crucial piece the system is still drawing board. david has pioneered some nice products for our toyota V8's... that means 1uz thru 3uz including 5.2 stroker kits and m112 roots superchrager setups.

LiCelsior I bought the procharger used for $1000 and would estimate the job cost me $2000 as I built it piece by piece... bracket was $250 and MISC hardware=home depot and the rest is your standard BOV/bypass valve and Intercooler + piping and some sort of rising rate FMU.when your going to school like me I could only work so many hours so I took my time and pieced her together as I had time. I take the setup off here and there and it only takes 5 min for the entire
assembly (bracket/pulley/charger). Very cool if your going to pass smog inspection... go home and put right back on.

-If anyone has any questions on the specifics I would be happy to share. below is a link of the 1st startup with absolutely no tuning and horrible idle since it had not been set lol. Lextreme.com has a few of these setups over on our forums if anyone's looking for more.

I've been looking at the different setups, particularly the M90/M115 setup. Lots of cool stuff at Lextreme.

Only thing dissuading me from boost is the gas prices. If it goes any higher, I'm trading my LS400 in for a motorcycle.

Where about Temecula are you? Redhawk here...

I drove the car home after that video was recorded and i used up an 8th of a tank... exactly what it took to get me there and it was an hour drive. The centrifugal blower is nothing more than a belt driven turbocharger... pulley builds boost w/ engine rpm (or exhaust turbine which is based on engine rpm for you turbo guys) so in a nutshell if you hop in your LS and drive a few hours at 70mph your looking at 2500ish rpm and my boost gauge still reads strong vacuum. If I floor it going 70 however.... the charger will be at full boost by around 3500 and real linear all the way to redline. Really curious how 9psi would feel lol.

I'm in Murrieta actually, redhawk is 20 min south on I-15.

avalon42 Yes he has 2 types...the original "fish" bracket thats engineered for Vortech V1 and V2 units that MUST spin counter clock wise (or its sucking instead of blowing) that bracket has 2 variations for soarer and Celsior (SC and LS) and he is coming out very soon with more of mine for the procharger type.

Wow - nice job. Looks tight, but then again, I don't think the Lexus engineers thought anyone would try and stuff a blower under that hood!

I'm looking forward to see what the dyno says once you get the tune sorted out.

J3,

Don't think your blind, but you are inverted.
There is no battery (visible). Don't think this pic lets you see enough on the air intake side to see how/& if it has been modded.

The sc400 has a longer hood... I envy their extra space. I made a custom 2'' thick filter out of hks filter material and a thin metal screen. The procharger is so big compared to a vortech that it rests around 2'' from the radiator. I used 14'' electric fans and mounted them as far to the right as possible. In addition you will need a 113'' 6 rib belt for you LS owners. It all fits into pace its just the filter location is cramped. here's some more pics....

Just some more food for thought... the bracket + procharger + hardware = 27LB. you have to relocate your batt, stock batt is 50lb.

I want one...

I might just buy the procharger fish bracket to commit myself to it. That whine sounds a bit like my current vacuum leak, but I wouldn't worry quite so much about it.

Have you thought about a TC to go with that procharger? 2000-2400 rpms would make for a nice mild very streetable (very fast) launch.

Yeah I have a custom 3000rpm stall also. Lextreme has high perofrmance TC's for pretty much every Lexus model, that includes 2jz. The 1uz engines have a standard 2800 stall over the 2000 stock. Their the same quality as the dragon TC and this one costs around $200. Great competitive price. lol believe it or not they have the color changing purple paint (used to identify heat ranges) same as Dragon uses, virtually identical.
