Strange 99 LS chirping noise when the AC is on
Hello everyone,
Something strange started happening today, there is a cricket like chirping sound coming from the passenger side, like right behind the CD player or the glove box. It does it for a second or two, then stops, then a couple of minutes, and it chirps again. Also, it seems to happen when the AC is on, and does not do it when I shut it off. Maybe like a belt slipping sound, and not a loud sound, the fan on max will drown it out.
Very strange, is there a belt or something like that for the AC behind or inside the passenger side dash? I checked the engine belts, and it's not them. AC works just fine, noise just comes and goes.
Absolutely no clue,
David

My acura legend used to make a cricket chirp sound, due to the blower motor, I believe it was called..may be the same on this car? Happened sometimes if the heat or a/c was on high.

There are no belts inside the dash that would cause such a noise AFAIK. However, it could possibly be the bearings inside one of the fan motors in the HVAC system. Do you hear the noise with just the blower fans operating, and the A/C off?
