Default coolant amount

what if someone had put too much coolant in the radiator, what happens to the coolant, does it just drain out, i have a 91 ls400

you can't put too much in.

it'll only hold so much and then spill out all over the floor.

Yeah it's practically impossible to overfill the coolant

If the engine block, radiator, and coolant reservoir were all filled completely, some of the coolant would be lost when the car reached operating temperature and was then shut down. In theory, the overflow should come out of the pressure cap on the coolant recovery reservoir. Given the poorly designed coolant overflow reservoir, what would likely happen is a coolant leak at the top of the tank where the coolant level sensor is attached.
