1997 LS400 keyless remote....
I have lost my remote for 1997 LS400 about three months ago, ever since I have been looking for used one online trying to find the RIGHT one. It seems that there is two FCC ID # HYQWDT-C and HYQ1512P and I do not know which one will work. I tried getting help from the dealership but they told me that the manufacturer does not provide them with the FCC ID #. They said in order to get the right one I need to have my old one on me and get that FCC ID #.
I would really appreciate it if some one can help…..

HYQWDT-C is the correct FCC number for your car; I have a '97 and that is what mine says. I also bought another used one from eBay and I checked the FCC # very carefully; it also is the same number.
Good luck, and I can't see why if you pick one up from a reputable person on eBay that it wouldn't be fine. Try and avoid the dealer on this as they are unreasonably expensive for what they are.
Somewhere in the stickys there are directions for programming the replacement remote; it is quite a rigamarole but it can be done (it involves turning on the ignition for a certain number of seconds, opening the driver's door a couple of times within a certain time frame, etc.), and I don't think you need the original remote to do it, but check first.
I hope this will be of some help.
