not sure but iirc its as follows (written from memory, dont bug me if its wrong/doesnt work)
hold down the center button until the light starts to blink, then hold down the button you want to program while at the same time pressing the button on your existing garage door opener (hold itup next to the one in the car at this point) and hold BOTH the button u want programmed on the car and ur garage door opener until the light in the car stops blinking/blinks faster (one of the two).
enjoy.

Here's how off the top of my head:
First, hold down buttons 1 and 3 until it starts to blink slowly, then rapidly in order to clear out anything that may be stored in memory.
Disconnect power to the garage door opener. I recommend just opening the circuit at the breaker box. Then, take an already programmed garage door remote and hold it 2-3 inches away from the homelink. Hold down the the button on the homelink you want to program and the programmed button on the remote at the same time for 30 seconds or until the light blinks at a different rate on the homelink. I believe it will blink faster when its programmed. Reconnect power, or close the circuit.
Now, if you don't have a rolling code garage door opener, you're good. If not, proceed.....
Go up to your garage door opener, and find the training button. You may have to remote the cover over the lights or a similar cover to access it. It should be marked. Press the button on the garage door opener. Now, within 30 seconds, go back to your car and press the programmed button on the homelink. The garage door should operate properly. If not, try the button again, and as a last resort, repeat this process in its entirety, including resetting the homelink.

it all depends if you have a rolling-code garage door opener or a standard one. the OEM garage opener in the car is made by homelink, which the same across a whole range of cars not just the LS400!

What he's talking about is different levels of security in certain garage door motors. When programming to homelink, you either do it in a one step process or a two step process. A rolling code motor requires the second step, which is pressing the "smart/learn" button on the motor, then cycling the homelink button in the car.
