Injen Intake Problem
hey guys i got my intake from Hann at LM few days ago and went to install it and its the wrong one! its for the sc400 92 to 95 he and i talked and decieded it can be done need a few mods just wondeirng if anyone has done this and if so some help would be appreciated!
Main problem is that the adaptor from the MAFS does not line up with the holes on the MAFS only 2 of them do. second the intake sits a little to high for to clear the brake lines. any ideas? i really like it and would love to still keep it! Thanks.

As far as I know, doesnt the SC400 and the LS 400 share the same 1UZ engine. My thoughts is it should have lined up perfectly. Please keep us posted as I will soon be doing this to mine and you now have my attention.

I bought an aluminum adapter plate from pep boys and had a similar problem. If you want to make it work, you can use a dremel tool and take a little material out to make it fit or if it is really off you can drill new holes. I would line up the 2 holes that match and get a marker in the back to locate where it needs to be modified. Sounds like your close enough.

i am the problem is im so close that if i dremel it out the hole will be too big on one side that the screw wont catch anything. the other major problem is that the piping doesnt have a hardenough bend in it for it to clear the ABS system so even if i got it on and tight the hood wont close.

If you look at the Injen manual it came with, it shows a picture of a Lexus SC400 engine bay. Compare it with the LS400, the SC400 actually has a longer engine bay therfore more fitting to those owners. I guess to contribute to the long nose sleek styling front end. I have an LS400 that had the same problem with the Injen intake, as the engine bays are much shorter. Simply it needed an adaptor bracket(which injen should have provided "as custom" piece, so I had to custom make one myself) for the top and bottom brackets bolted to the MAS flow sensor's throttle body. So it won't interfere with the ABS system, or end up resting on top of it while in motion. As for the intake tube, both ends were too long. So I would have to shave/dremel about 1/4 inch or so off each end. Cause on the bend it can actually touch one of the top bolts of the mounted suspension system. Also the breather tube coming out from the middle intake tube, is too short, have to go to an auto parts supplier to get a much longer tube, then cut to size, what idiots!!!...Also the air intake could have been much bigger, I just installed a much bigger Apex'i micro filter in replacement of the Injen, and I got much improved throttle response as expected! And sounds much better...As for Injen, all I paid for was the intake tube, that still required some form of cutting...what a waste and it cost me more either way. They could have done a much better fit & finish product, it was more "half-A$$" to me....
