92 Ls 400
Well, I've had my completly stock 1992 LS 400 for about a year now and I love it! It does have some minor problems that need to be fixed though. I hope you guys can help me out. First, my seat heaters do not work. I checked the fuses already and they are good. Next, there is no power at my cig lighter, the fuse is good. My liquid crystal rear view mirror does not seem to have much affect on headlight glare in the night position. My AC display does not work but I did find someone on Ebay that can repair it. I guess thats all for the interior. Now for the exterior. I need shocks but don't know what to buy. I also have the engine ticking noise and I've heard a few different theories about that. There also seems to be a little acceleration lag from a dead stop. Plugs and wires are new. Also, I need a drivers side headlight/foglight assy. if anyone has one for sale. Thanks, Jm

hmm, let me try to tackle this one...
Seat heaters--- check your fuses,, are you sure you have seat heaters in yours?? thought that came in years further than ours.
Cig Lighter-- Common problem. most likely will have to replace the cig lighter as they do short out quickly. I have the same problem.
Mirror- In the first gen, the night position really was not that good to begin with. Replace if necessary.
AC display-- you already found the answer.
Shocks-- KYB-Gr2's (can get from most local parts stores) these are closest to stock that you can get aftermarket, Tokico HP Blue's (Not a personal favorite of mine), or OEM,
engine tick-- more annoying than anything else,,needs to have a valve adjustment,, can be costly to do so makes friends with a mechanic or just leave alone,, no major harm being done here.
Acceleration lag-- define. The first gen 400 was never a rocket from the start line( it is a heavy car,, close to 5500 lbs)
Headlight(drivers side)-- highly sought after item. Have to keep watch for them

Thanks for the info trukn1. I do have seat heater switches. I still have the origional window sticker so I'll check that. The acceleration lag is not that bad and mayby it is normalin this car. There just seems to be a little delay after mashing the gas.

According to edmunds.com, and some other sources that I've seen, a 1st Gen LS does not weigh that much. Maybe I'm missing something, or maybe you're just reading what it says on the door, but they all say the car has a 3,759lb curb weight.

Yeah, I can't think of any passenger cars that weigh that much. Maybe if the thing had like a bulletproofing option from the factory, and 3 or 4 sub boxes in the trunk. Haha.
