1995.What do you think I should pay.
I have already used the "search" feature on this board and so I am not going to ask repetitive questions about the 2nd gen LS400.
This guy is selling a 1995 ls with enough receipts like timing belt and brakes.Black with tan interior. The front seats have some tear/rips, dealer said it needs cats because the check engine is on.The balljoints are a bit weak. The miles are 265k hwy.
The body is clean and well kept. What should I pay of trhis car?

I will go see it on saturday
You are close, the guy wants $4000.This is something I have to think about because in 5 yrs time (the usual time I keep most cars) it will be hard in trying to sell a car over 300k miles.

I got my 94 ls400 with 125,000 miles on it for $4000 in Feb 2007. Maybe you should look at a 1st gen with less miles or put down some money on one with lower miles. The interior is $1,000 buy itself, if you install it yourself, and that's just the start of you spending spree of cosmetics and maintenance.

So $4k for a car with that much mileage is ok?
Honestly, I would wait it out to see if the price can come down or put together some more funds. In comparison I got my 92 LS for $1500 and all I needed was a new Rack and pinion, interior detailing and tires. I got it with 186K miles I know have 191k and I have done the TB,WP job and all engine seals and a hosts of other things and it runs damn good.
By the way that check engine light could be more complicated than what is indicated. Where are you located?

IMO...I feel that for this car, to get a good sample with modest miles, $7-$9K is a sweet spot. So that moves you into '97-'00 depending on the usual data. As a ball park...high end cars in the low price point may not be durable to go a handful of years without significant $$ in repairs. There are exceptions so diligent shopping will pay-off.

I hope it is worth it.
I am checking it out tomorrow morning.
Puredrifter you think just like I do.I am a junk yard man and I can buy almost any LS part out here in many junk yards.I can get the seats for about 250 and even the cats if only the state allows buying emmsion parts.I am a DIY kind of guy and a guy on ebay have the ball joints for $95 a pair.I have a 90LS and so I wouldn't want to go 1st Gen http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/henboy...dir=/474fre2.I am wondering if the tune ups are just like mine on my 90LS or is it more difficult?I am just tired of the clunks on the 1st GEN and the soo many bushing problems and I hope those are cured in the 95s

I bought the car 4 days ago and comparing both the 90 and this 95 is similar. The 95s ride is better because of the mcperson struts(I maybe wrong on the strut name that comes with the car) on the 95.My 90 has the annoying cheap KYBs which rides stiffer. My 90 has a better stereo because of the kenwood amp and double din stereo .I hear few front clunks in the front but the seller had done diags at the dealership and they mentioned the specific part it needs.9strut bar etc..)I will hurry to the junkyard when I get a chance. He even did the timming belt and tune up twice on the car.I just love my cars and pics will come soon.

The same 4 grand with about 15 different receipts. All the receipts was from the dealership.I would rather buy a high mileage car with receipts than a low mileage without the paper. The only disappointment was the original struts on the car but it still seems fine.I will try to post the pics soon.

I bought my 1995 LS 400 for $10,500 Canadian with 182,000 Kilometers on it..
I thought that was a good price for the vehicle.. All regular servicing has been done on the vehicle at the Lexus Dealership, Timing belt replaced at 128K and seems good to go..
Only problems I think I have are Off Throttle Shock, now the Power Steering Pump seems to be leaking... and I may need to change a couple of belts soon... Also my seat heater isn't working... drives smooth and I get about 420 KMS out of a full tank... although after a Synthetic Oil Change, I got 460...
