I've got 3000k HIDs in my fogs so if I remove that it wouldn't be good for oncoming drivers. They're already outputting a ton of light already. If I didn't already change to HIDs I would have done this.

I will test it with the hids actually on my car with the mod and i will let you know how much glare there will be. And also ill put up some pics. Then you can decide for yourself if you actually want to do this mod or not.

i've been running HIDs in my modded housings for years now... no issues.

To those who want to see the output after removing the tin and installing his into the fogs here are some pics of mine after removing the tin piece and added 3k hid into the fogs. From what I see It does have brighter output after removing the tin
I found these on ebay. I want to replace my existing fog light bulbs with these. Any issues? is heat a concern? Just wanted to make sure they would work before ordering them. THANKS
I'm very hesitant to do this mod, the tin is there for a reason, to reduce the heat, since it gets very hot and can burn the plastic lens, I'm sure the engineer put it there for this main reason and not reduce the light output or glare. I'm interested in those that took this tin out for awhile now how things are holding up? The ls400 is so well engineered that it not a good idea to alter it, I only see problem down the road

iirc, aren't the fog lenses glass? Even still, there may be a heat concern for the back piece which is plastic?
