What's the coaxial/BNC connector underneath the radio?
Tore apart my center console while looking for my shades and found this little cable. It looked like a coaxial cable, but under some searching in the forum, it appears to be a BNC connector.
Anyone know what this can be used for? Is this a cable for the nav system (which I don't have?)

I suspect that the coax cable in your 98 LS is for the phone antenna imprinted on the inside of the rear window - same as in my similar 00 LS. In my 00 LS, the coax cable under the console is "activated" by connecting two antenna coax cables in the right rear of the trunk. I think someone said in another thread that the optional Lexus phone would be installed on the left side of the trunk on a 98 LS so you might find the two coax cables I'm talking about there - or it could be different.
The six pin male connector on the drivers side under the console is also for the Lexus phone system and contains both power and a pin (center front) which can be connected to a phone kit (including a Bluetooth one) to automatically mute the audio system when a phone call is in progress.
The imprinted phone antenna works great with my Nokia phone kit. But I drive in a lot of rural areas - it might not be so important in California.
Here is how I installed my phone kit and more information about this coax cable: http://home.kc.rr.com/colchester/pho...%20install.doc

Thanks Jim. I read some other threads hinting at the phone antenna as well, but like you said, the 2000 model had it on the right side (wonder why they had to change it).
Good word file on the phone install as well.
