Default Problem with trunk latch - need help!

We have a 1992 LS 400, which we purchased used at auction. It came with a valet key, but the previous owners had lost the original key. We have driven it for almost 2 years, and just made do with the valet key, as we have not wanted to spend $500 to purchase the other key. Recently, I inadvertently pushed the interior trunk latch lock button (next to the fuel door release). This has effectively locked me out of the trunk. That would not be a big issue, but I am concerned about getting a flat now, as my spare is locked in my trunk. We have contacted a few locksmiths, all of whom have referred us back to the dealer. The dealer says they can access the trunk through the back seat, but that would not release the trunk latch lock, so as soon as the seat is back in place, we'd be back in the same boat. We are wondering if anyone has a great idea to help us get that latch unlocked w/o spending the $500 for the new key. The car has about 166K on it, and we only paid $5000 to start with, so we're not anxious to put unecessary $ into it.

Any great suggestions?
Brian

Do you have the key card? Check in your owners manual case.

Go to the dealer with your registraion/ownership and ask teh parts guy to cut you a new non remote master key $50 which can open your glovebox and trunk as well as the lock.
Or get as wallet key card made for $30 just make sure when you give them the key code or ask them to get it from your VIN you specify you want it to be a master cut not the valet one.
