Unhappy LS first gen '92 wheel/tire recommendation

I have a '92 LS400 that came stock with 205/65/15 tires. The overall diameter of that tire is 25.7" . I bought some 16"x7.5" GS300 wheels and plan to install them on my car. Question: Should I go with a 225/60/16 tire, or a 225/55/16 tire. The 225/60s are a little bigger than stock; the 225/55s are about the same diameter as stock.

I understand the 225/60/16, being bigger, will throw off the speedo a little. Aside from that, what do you guys think will look best on my '92?

Does anyone have pictures to help in my decision?

Thanks

Hello,

my dad has the 93-94 LS wheels on his 92 LS with wintertires in 225/55R16V, I will look if I have a pic with them on. Right now are the summer tires on 17" with 235/45 17.

Default Still Stumped on Tire Size

Thanks for the replies.

I plan to install 16"x7.5" GS300 wheels on my '92 LS. I'm still leaning toward using a 225/60/16 tire, which is the OE tire size on LS's with 16" tires, instead of a 225/55/16 tire. The 55 series tire would be closer in overall diameter to the stock, 15" size, but I'm thinking the car would look better with the fatter 60 series tire.

It's a big expense for me, so I'd appreciate all the input I can get. Photos would be great!!

I have a '90 and my dad has a '94, the bigger tire is the way to go imho.

I've been looking into this also.
At 60 mph on the speedo, my car with stock-sized tires, is doing an actual 57 mph.
With the bigger-sized tire, it would be closer to actual speed.
Either if correct or not it's only about 3 mph max difference around the 60 mph mark.

The tires fill the wheel well tighter, and the bigger wheels and tires give the car a sportier look.
The smaller wheels make the car look longer.

The 225/60 gives you pretty much the same sidewall height as the 205/65, (135mm, former to 133.25mm, latter), so you don't lose any ride quality.
The extra diameter comes from the rim.

I'll put up pics when I get home.

Default GOWEST question

How is that the original tire size on your '92 LS is 225/60/16? I have a '92, and as far as I know they all came with 15s.

Thanks. Photos of the 225/60/16 on a '92 LS would be appreciated. The tires will be installed on 16" 2003 GS wheels, if that makes a difference.

Default Fatter is Better

Thanks, guys. I'm going with the 225/60/16s, instead of 225/55s, on my '92 LS.
