LS400 steering, wandering left and right?
Hey,
I've got an unusual steering problem on my 92 LS. On the highway it will pull left and then I'll after a few seconds it will wander back to the right and pull right. Then a couple seconds later it will wander back to the left and so on all the way down the road! I just had it aligned yesterday and the shop said it is mechanically in alignment and my tires are just fine.
If it pulled one way only I'd suspect the alignment but since it wanders left and right I suspect either the steering rack itself or maybe the ball joints or the tie rod ends.
Anyone experience this type of thing?
thanks,
allen

Well,
I finally got it figured out, the problem was the steering rack. I replaced it with one from a 93 and all is well now. I had to swap the electrical plug from the 92 rack onto the 93 rack but that was the only difference that I could find.
Just thought I'd post the fix for anyone else who's having this type of problem.
