Factory HIDs - Replacement / Upgraded D2R Bulbs
Hi,
Well as its coming up to winter soon and i'll be doing more low light & night time driving.I'm thinking about buying some replacement / upgraded D2R bulbs.
I've used a headlight restore kit to polish the headlight lenses back to clear again but i'm finding to light out put of my factory hids to still be poor.
So i thinking new bulbs should make a improvement.I was wondering what bulb manufacturers i should look at.
Philips - Osram - Other
Can advice would be much appreciated
Thanks
Pete

I was in this situation and this is what I have gathered:
Best light output available right now: Osram Xenarc CBI
If you're looking for a bit cheaper option: Morimoto XB35
In the end I don't think you can go wrong with a nice Philips either though, they are OEM on tons of cars after all

I suggest if you want it more permanent to get PPF on top of whatever sealant you have.
New bulbs will be brighter. I've only used Philips (same as OEM) to replace rather then upgrade; but those did increase brightness over my 12year old bulbs.
I bought on ebay to save some money, but at least from a high-rated seller that had in his description all the info to convince you he was selling genuine philips parts and not counterfeit ones. His price was also not insanely cheap price, but still some savings.
There is a link in the DIY in that explains exactly how to replace the bulbs, read specifically for the tips on how to detach and reattach the metal cap; that's the trickiest bit

how much and which reseller?
i'm currently running 2nd set of HID Extra D2C i paid for $40 a pair. they last me about 2 yrs on last set. once one of them on this 2nd set burn-out, i will swap in the spare from my 1st set to buy some time. when that happens, i plan to buy my back-up to be Xenarc CBI 5000K D2R.
How much did you pay on Amazon?
I've used about 3 sets of aftermarket D2C bulbs in my car already and work fine.
just be careful not to push too hard when replacing it. cuz you do not want to mess up the auto-leveling.
Thanks

I paid £93.58 shipped which works out at $155.36.
Seller was called Upgrade Bulbs or something similar to that.
Thanks for the advice about the auto leveling will keep that in mind when fitting the new bulbs.
Why do the buy D2C bulbs when a 2gs is D2R?
