Default D2S Aftermarket kit into D4S OEM

Hello, do you guys think this would work and.

I have a 3rd gen GS and the light output sucks on our car compared to others in line up. I was thinking of putting in a D2S aftermarket HID Kit with 55w. I read a few forums and people have said the only difference was the cut out notch at the base of the D4S and D2S bulbs.

I'm planning to to just put in that kit and run it off the aftermarket 55w ballast of course, do you guys think this would work? and would it be an moderate level project to do?

---- Also the other reason I want to try this is because I've had 3 Garax 6000K sets from 2 stores and the D4S does not even light up the white, but more like oem 4300 with the yellow tint. I'm not sure if it's my ballast or the bulbs, but after trying 3 sets of 6000k Garax from difference sources, I finally gave up.

it's not the ballast or bulb, it's the projector optics. When I had my GS, i used these:

I had the 5000k and 6000k, I recommend the 5000k.

You can run D2S, but the stock projector will still soften the light output.

But the only way to change projector is to take out the whole headlight assembly right?

Anyway, how is the Morimoto bulbs you bought? I had Garax before so is output and colour similar?

The morimoto bulbs were ok, the only difference I noticed between the two were that the Garax bulbs lost a bit of its brightness/intensity after a couple of weeks. The morimoto lasted longer, but eventually, it did the same thing.

Changing the projector isn't as easy as you'd think. The projectors you currently have mounts the bulbs sideways - no other projector will fit the same way because all other projectors mount the bulbs from the rear of the projector.

If you need the best output and visibility at night - the best way is to stick to the stock bulbs. You can retrofit another projector, but it involves custom work that is pretty expensive.
